Um 6:30 holt mich mein Fahrer vom Hotel ab, es geht zur Goldäffchentour. Wir fahren zum bereits bekannten Nationalparkgate. Ich erfahre, dass Einheimische ca. 5% der Eintrittspreise von Touristen zu bezahlen haben. Touristen aus dem übrigen Afrika zahlen abermals einen anderen Eintrittspreis. Für mich sehr okay.

Danach erfolgt ein kurzer Transfer zum Ausgangspunkt der kurzen Wanderung in Nationalpark, an dessen Grenzen unmittelbar die Goldäffchen in großer Schar im Bambuswald sich von Halm zu Halm durchfressen.

Vor den Eintritt in das NP-Areal bekamen wir FFP2-Masken. „Zum Schutz der Äffchen, nicht zu unserem! Bzw. wir haben Ärzt, die Äffchen nicht!“ wie unser Führer anmerkte. Die nachfolgenden Bilder zeigen, wie natürlich und friedfertig nahe sich die beiden Spezies kamen, zumindest so lange, solange wir ihnen die Bambusnahrung nicht streitig machten.

Da sich das Wetter verschlechtert hatte, habe ich von einem Besuch der nahegelegenen Zwillings-Seen verzichtet und auf Nachfragen bei meinem Fahrer in Erfahrung gebracht, dass am Nachmittag ein ruandisches Premiere-League Spiel in Musanze stattfindet. Damit war das Alternativprogramm auch schon fixiert.

Ich habe den Fahrer zum Spiel eingeladen, er hat mich dafür abgeholt und blieb dann am Heimweg für mich an der Kathedrale und am Genozid-Memorial für mich stehen. Das Spiel bzw. das Umfeld des Spiels war in zwei Punkten ungewöhnlich: es gab keine Anzeige im ganzen Stadion, welches den Spielstand angezeigt hat und es wurde nichts (weder Getränke, noch Snacks) verkauft. 

Man beachte auch den hochrangigen Fifa-Funktionär!

Am Abend war ich immer noch nicht zu müde und habe mich in die ausgelobte „Zero-Gravity“ Bar aufgemacht. Zum ersten Mal habe ich ein Motorrad-Taxi unter Mithilfe des Hotelpersonals angeheuert.

Die Zero-Gravity Bar ist eine Dachterrasse mit Livemusik lokaler und internationaler Popmusik. Meinen Fahrer und andere Tagestouristen der Goldäffchentour habe ich wie verabredet wieder getroffen. Gemeinsam haben wir Schwung in die etwas starre Besucherschar gebracht und haben einige Sessel und Tische verrückt, um Platz zum Tanzen zu bekommen. Es hat nicht lange gedauert und der Funke unserer Vibrations ist übergesprungen und zauberte ein Lachen und Tanzbewegungen in die übrigen Besucher.

Jeder Punkt der Welt kann zum Mittelpunkt werden, wenn man ihn nur dazu macht – kam mir in den Sinn. So gelang es mir diese Bar freudig aufzumischen. 😊

Von diesem denkwürdigen Abend gibt es nur verschwommene Aufzeichnungen...

At 6:30 a.m., my driver picked me up from the hotel for the golden monkey tour. We drive to the already familiar national park gate. I learn that locals have to pay about 5% of the tourist entrance fee. Tourists from the rest of Africa pay a different entrance fee. That's fine with me.

After that, there's a short transfer to the starting point of the short hike in the national park, just next to the entrance gate a large group of golden monkeys are grazing from stalk to stalk in the bamboo forest. Before entering the national park, we were given FFP2 masks. "For the protection of the monkeys, not ours! Or rather, we have a doctor, the monkeys don't!" as our guide noted. The following pictures show how naturally and peacefully the two species approached each other, at least as long as we didn't compete with them for bamboo food.

Because the weather had worsened, I decided not to visit the nearby Twin Lakes. After asking my driver, I learned that a Rwandan Premier League match was taking place in Musanze that afternoon. With that, the alternative program was already set.

I invited the driver to the match, he picked me up, and then stopped for me at the cathedral and the genocide memorial on the way home. The game, or rather the surrounding environment was unusual in two aspects: there was no scoreboard anywhere in the stadium, and nothing (neither drinks nor snacks) was being sold.

That evening, I still wasn't too tired and headed to the advertised "Zero Gravity" bar. For the first time, I hired a motorcycle taxi with the help of the hotel staff.

The Zero Gravity Bar is a rooftop terrace with live local and international pop music. I met up with my driver and other day trippers from the Golden Monkey Tour as agreed. Together, we livened up the somewhat static crowd and moved some chairs and tables to make room for dancing. It didn't take long for the spark of our vibes to spread, conjuring laughter and dance moves among the other guests. Any spot in the world can become the center of attention if you just make it so – it came to my mind. That's how I managed to happily shake up this bar. 😊
